really glad i gave this one a reevaluation!! i think i always liked it but on this watch the fairly obvious message of "it's about depression, hank is literally reanimating a once-dead part of himself through manny" really clicked into place. and i was much more primed to marvel at the production design! astounding. it's like if michel gondry made Castaway. and the score is SO good, hot damn. read that a lot of the songs were composed before shooting, which is crazy, but damn it's cool that it worked. how the fuck did they shoot this movie in just 22 days. not a joke when i say i think it's radcliffe's finest performance, i think it's a lot harder to pull this off than it looks
