GOT SPOOKED BY A GHOST IN MY HOUSE NEAR THE END BUT IT WAS JUST THE DEPRESSION LEAVING MY BODY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in such awe! Fuck. I really loved this. I think it’s Pixar’s most impressive film to date from so many technical standpoints and I would just LOVE to be a fly on the wall in the room where they wrote this. I don’t know how they keep topping themselves visually, there has to be a ceiling on the technological possibilities, right? I wonder if they ever just sneak in one shot that was shot on video just to fuck with us. I know I would if I were Mortimer Pixar, head of Pixar.
Have seen criticisms that it feels like an Inside Out spinoff but I think that’s a strong feature of it– they took a few of the conceptual pearls introduced in Inside Out and created something that feels completely unique to me. As someone who consistently conflates passion with purpose and finds myself often “living like i’m getting ready to live,” this thing sunk into my chest like a key. And it’s really funny! And also made me once again long to be in New York! A place I have never lived but will always love! Greatest city in the world!! Absolutely should not have been Tina Fey in that role but ok that’s fine!! Movies have the power to change da world!!!!!!
