This movie is beautiful, and is essentially a war film with a twist- but it also felt a little bit paint-by-numbers. The people I saw it with didn't agree, but I eventually came around to realizing the structure and most impressive things of the film are also things that the Transformers franchise just kind of killed my excitement for. Which sounds like a diss, but it's not! It's still a great action movie, with wonderful comedic moments. But if you know the structure of a modern action blockbuster, there's zero surprises in it.
Also, some real criticisms- the main characters are boring, charmless, and kinda just seem like famous people poured into the mold of action blockbuster archetypes. (Again- still think it's worth watching!!)
