D Edward’s review published on Letterboxd:
Panos, baby, I have missed you. This is such a palette cleanser after Dreams in the Witch House, it’s insane. Cosmatos’s style is so assured and deliberate. Most of this movie is characters sitting around doing drugs and talking. This should be boring, but the STYLE. Fuck me, I don’t even know if the conversation means all that much in the grand scheme of the story, but I’m hooked. Each step towards the climactic viewing, wondering, and then the climax let’s it all go in one bloody swing and it. Don’t. Miss. Ironically, this does H.P. Lovecraft better than either of the two actual Lovecraft adaptations. Panos understood the assignment, and Panos delivers.
