Performances are the strength of this movie far and away and give its most dramatic moments the convincing sting they need to work. However, I found myself struggling to get into the story. There’s an inevitability to the events and eventual conclusion with no surprises or clever tricks up the movie’s sleeve. You know the characters aren’t going to leave because the script demands they stay so they’ll face the shocking climax. There’s no loops on this roller coaster; it’s just cruising at a constant speed. It is what it is, and it seems to work for a lot of people, but it ends up simply being okay for me. 

It does make me want to learn more about Dutch/Danish relations and if there’s some underlying subtext within the movie.
