100-word review: The two-word review of this would be "Mood, ππ’π°π±π’π±π¦π ", it's an Eggers film, what did you expect? The perfect pick to direct a gritty viking fantasy epic with a budget, which β praise Odin β 'they' actually let him make. Spoilers ahead: the spear catch, the berserker ritual(s), the nude fighting atop an active volcano... Kidman's betrayal everyone sees coming from a mile away (she just looks so evil), and Amleth's affection for Olga seems a little dependent on the fact that it's freaking Taylor-Joy (can't blame him), but other than that The Northman is another unforgettable Eggers experience.
