    This. This is the standard we should hold acearo rep to. I came out of the film feeling so affirmed, it's so rare to see this much care and dedication to us. I don't talk too much about being acearo-spec on here, but there were a lot of points in this film that cut so deep into my past that it wounded in all the best ways.

    Isolation is a strong focus in the film and because of her emotions…

    America Ferrera's acting debut is a clear example of why she deserves more acclaim.
    Ana is not only highly relatable but like every other character, lives through the screen vividly.
    By the end we are cheering as she finds her freedom in the world.
    A lot hit close to home and I thank my dear friend Sophie for my destruction ;-; (I will be seeking my revenge mwahaha)

    I misjudged everything. Even knowing the film had a Rashomon-esque structure going in, I didn't expect it to end up being a story of queerness, abjection and homophobia. It was a stellar choice that gutted me completely - thanks Kore-eda! ;-;
    I loved the turns it took and it was certainly enthralling, but I wish there was more of a resolution to the story; poor Mum and Mr Hori.

    (also, this is my 4,400th film marked as watched here!!)

    Dear readers,

    After a long, long sitting in the theatre (not runtime wise, more like I can't feel my legs as much-wise) I am still thinking about the fantastic cinematography and the sheer scale of the film. Something as mythic as it seems to present itself, Eggers understood the assignment. Anya Taylor-Joy is the real standout here as she pretty much carries the entire film and is the major reason why I am rating it as high as I am.…
