Certain Women

Certain Women ★★★★

From the first few beautifully composed shots, we know that this film will lay bare how the empty, snow-laden landscapes of the American West – so obviously a symbol of the human soul/psyche – necessarily foster an emotional terrain in which spatial tensions make every form of intimacy inevitably fraught. God, the aloneness of it all. I thought this was really beautiful and moving in its quietness. And because of its quietness, it will always be underrated. I like Kelly Reichardt movies.
