Corey’s review published on Letterboxd:
I thought this worked beautifully on so many levels, the handling of inherited trauma, the resistance to discuss hardships with family and instead pretend that everything is perfect, the celebration of Hispanic culture, the dejection of feeling like the odd one out. Encanto somehow juggles all of these ideas and themes brilliantly, while still being thoroughly entertaining. And it has Disney Animated Studios’ staple vivid, lush animation, and a gorgeous set of songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda to boot. One of my personal favorites of the year.
