Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ★★★½

What a strange, strange movie. But it made me in a very good mood. The first 40 minutes we follow who five children will win a golden ticket to a candy factory, the same time it is showed how stupid we people are. That chemistry teacher was funny from the side characters. But I had all this time wondered when will Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) appear. Just when I was beginning to be frustrated, then the gates opened to a factory. The first part of this movie was quite realistic, so it felt a very big change to get into an insane, surrealistic and colourful factory where there were small, orange oompa loompa men singing songs about morality things and where a factory owner seems to be very unconcerned towards children. At first I didn't like Wilder, I didn't get what was supposed to be funny. It took me a while to get into in his humour but once I was in I had a really good time. Unfortunately the ending is boring and easily forgettable but I still was in a good mood. Oompa loompa melody is still playing in my head even it's couple of days already when I watched this. I haven't really liked musicals because I haven't liked the songs, this was an exception. Especially I liked Charlie's mother's (?) song, it was moving.
