Clifford the Big Red Dog

Clifford the Big Red Dog ★★★

Clifford the big red dog was released in 2021 and is directed by Walt Becker. The movie stars Jack Whitehall, Darby Camp, Tony Hale, Sienna Guillory and many more.

The movie is all about when a young girl (Elizabeth) meets a magical animal rescuer who gives her a little red puppy. However the red puppy grows in size over night magically and she soon learns how to live with the puppy named Clifford as they go through childhood together and all the problems that occur from it.

This is a good family movie, it is based off the cartoon and will be more enjoyable for those who have heard of the the cartoon prior to the movie. The comedy in the movie is quite bad tbh, it didn’t really make me laugh and felt like the script was poor, the jokes were used to often and seemed like the characters were trying too hard. The movie also felt like a long time getting into it, and dragged particularly at the begging and middle. For me the movie only
started to pick up during the last 30mins, where a lot seemed to happen, and the movie was much faster pace, this is when the comedy improved as the action built up. The movie has a lot of good messages about understanding that it is okay to be different and about being confident which is good for kids. The cgi and special effects was done okay, with some good moments between the dog and characters who came into contact with him. The ending was cliché however it was a happy, and emotional ending which met the tone of the movie.

Overall I’d rate this movie a 3 ⭐️ and would recommend watching this as a family fun entertainment, with lots of valuble lessons throughout.
