Dave Taylor’s review published on Letterboxd:
I never read ‘Creem’ (probably because I was nine when it halted publication), but I’ve always been a fan of music magazines (I read every issue of ‘Spin’ from 1996 until they stopped physically printing it in 2012). I feel like ‘Creem’ would have been right up my alley though, with its focus on hard rock and punk and it’s eagerness to take the piss out of all these so called ‘rock gods.’
‘Rolling Stone’ magazine has a four hour documentary about their publication. ‘Creem’ clocks in at just over 70 minutes. Honestly, the length is perfect though, as it covers everything you would want to know about the writers, the publication history and some of the reoccurring segments found within the magazine without overstaying its welcome.
Look, this isn’t going to change your life or anything, but if you are a fan of music history, or you’re someone that has read ‘Creem’ in the past, this documentary will give you exactly what your looking for to fill in the details of this niche publication.
