Dave Wheelroute’s review published on Letterboxd:
Judas and the Black Messiah is the kind of movie that keeps the people who know honest and the people who don't educated.
A lot of people have already talked about the "drop you into it and go" biopic style being so obviously better than the childhood to death biopic style, so I'll mention a different metatextual, formal takeaway. The Jesse James/Robert Ford "formula" (*very loose formula*) is amazing always and Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield are a leading duo like no other.
Was feeling really jazzed about their careers going forward, so I went to their Wikipedia pages. Stanfield is doing a western with Jonathan Majors and two additional seasons of Atlanta next. Kaluuya is doing a reimagining of Barney. Buckle up!
