Darren Carver-Balsiger’s review published on Letterboxd:
I can name a few silent movies funnier than 'The Kid' but it still won me over due to how deliciously sweet it was and how disarmingly heartfelt it seemed. Charlie Chaplin was (no surprise) great, but he's almost outmatched by Jackie Coogan who gives one of the greatest child performances of all-time. Not a masterpiece but a film of pure happiness in spite of it's sometimes dreary subject matter.
