Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ★★★★½

For starters, this is my second favorite MCU movie of all-time!

Visually, this film was stunning. There are several scenes that are trippy and beautiful. Raimi’s cinematographer, John Mathieson does an outstanding job.

This film introduces horror into the MCU. I love the blend of superhero and horror that Raimi pulls off so well.

Storyline wise, Wanda Maximoff is a classic tragic character and the continuation of her arc from WandaVision is so fitting, albeit heartbreaking. Her storyline brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Wanda is my favorite character in the MCU and Multiverse of Madness further solidified that.

I am deducting half a star because where Wanda ends in WandaVision & where she begins in Multiverse of Madness is not the same place. You are left having to fill in the blanks. I would’ve preferred that fleshed out.

With all that said, kudos to Marvel for successfully depicting the grief cycle. While WandaVision was denial and bargaining, this entry is anger and depression. Will Wanda achieve acceptance? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
