Here is a work full of dreams, creativity, tenderness and pure surrealism. Cementery of Splendour (รักที่ขอนแก่น) is the most chaotic film by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and a little similar to one of his previous works: Syndromes and a Century (แสงศตวรรษ) 2006. With his characteristic style, the director infuses Thai spiritualism into everyday life, turning visits to a hospital into a Kenopsia and somewhat disturbing experience. Slow cinema at its most immersive, lateral and resonant. It’s possible to believe you dreamed Apichatpong’s films after you see them… they certainly take you somewhere you’ve never been before on this earth. Don’t hurry back!

In theory it shouldn’t work, the performances are amateurish and all over the place, the script is very basic and the pacing is questionable. I didn't really connect with this film on a personal level, Bert Williams looked like a dirty pervert and at the same time cute. But despite that, the end it was surprisingly enjoyable and the soundtrack it was fantastic. Nice restoration Nicolas Winding Refn.

I wonder how long time it will take for this society; to appreciate, what for me it is, this film. The scene of Mia Goth in that heavy bar dancing "Spliff" by Bilderbunch (Indie band that I love very much) will remain impregnated in my mind for a long time. This film is visually stunning, the cinematography is perfect. I like and appreciate this film.

Seeing this in 2016 was an experience. Gore Verbinski and the others involved in this film, did not disappoint me this time.

PS I think Mia Goth is the future of our generation.

What to say about such a wonderful film like this, I think we can understand the message that Charlie Chaplin transmits to us in the current context. We have to defend the freedom and democracy of those crazy people who want to take them away from us for their megalomaniac interests.

This film is prior to World War II. It is exciting to see her knowing all the atrocities that arose during 1939-1945 and thinking that the only thing Chaplin…
