It’s interesting to think about how, in an attempt to rebel against/fix the culture or status-quo, we often overcorrect and fall into the same dogma that we were trying to escape.

Minari 2020
A compelling look at an immigrant family looking for the American dream.
This movie really made me think about what I want out of life and how capitalistic we think in American culture. We often attribute one thing/place/job to happiness, do whatever it takes to get it, then realize we missed the point.
The conversation between Jacob and Monica at the grocery store, after everything seemed to have worked out, really cemented the message of the movie for me.
Also, the acting is spectacular! The little boy and his grandmother were talking over scene after scene it was amazing.

So much of my life I spend as a Charlie, why can’t I be a Donald???
Revisited this because I think about it often.
Its fucking gold, every bit of it.
This is honestly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
It’s so fun.
Nicholas Cage is perfection.

Small children: struggling to get food across a dangerous river.
Owen Wilson: “Look at these assholes”
I really enjoyed this entire thing, but that might just be because I love Wes Anderson so much. I can see how others who don't care for the style could think it’s stale.
