• Tenet

I need to block a few hours on my calendar to read articles with titles like "What You Missed in Tenet". I think that I missed a lot.

I love a good mystery, and some of the stunt work and practical effects were incredible. But wow this was a mess to follow.

  • Tarzan the Ape Man

    Tarzan the Ape Man

They definitely could have replaced Tarzan in the Great Movie Ride.

  • The Mitchells vs. The Machines

    The Mitchells vs. The Machines

"Dog? Pig? Dog? Pig? Loaf of Bread?"

Such a fun movie for all ages, not just for kids! Make this the choice for your next family movie night.

  • Footlight Parade

    Footlight Parade

I expected the big musical numbers, but what I really enjoyed was the first hour. All the snappy dialogue matches some of the best screwball comedies. And what can I say about James Cagney! And Joan Blondell! I did not expect to like this so much.

I just have to forget about "Shanghai Lil". That was unfortunate.

  • Skyfall

It feels like a slight to call Skyfall one of the greatest Bond movies. It's something different, even than the other Craig films. Thomas Newman's score is incredible! The way it speeds up when Bond sprints through London works perfectly. This holds up VERY well.

  • Creed II

    Creed II

It's really hard to bring Drago into the mix and not have this feel like a rehash of Rocky IV, and a lot of it connects to Rocky III. Even so, the characters still feel legit, so I'm on board for it. Looking forward to see what they can do with Creed III!

  • Over the Moon

    Over the Moon

After the fairly straightforward opening, I definitely did not expect the dance party on the moon.

  • Green Zone

    Green Zone

I was inspired to finally catch up with this Iraqi war thriller after re-watching the Bourne films, and it's a solid movie. Even 18 years later, the mess of the Iraq invasion still makes me cringe. Damon makes for a believable soldier who's a bit too idealistic and just wants the truth. Nothing here matches the visceral excitement of Bourne, but it's still a decent ride.

  • Creed

The scooter running sequence gives me chills every time.

  • Shooter

    1. Bob Lee Swagger is such a ridiculous name.
    2. For a guy with many skills, Bob did make for a willing fall guy in an obvious plan.
    3. The way Ned Beatty says "I am a US Senator!" is hilarious and also out of an even lesser movie.
    4. Has Mark Wahlberg ever had charisma on screen?
    5. The ending is...something.

  • Wolfwalkers

Wolfwalkers looks incredible and is one of the most interesting animated films that I've seen in a long time, at least in terms of the visuals. The story was just okay and very familiar. Still, it's definitely worth watching for the overall look and vibe.

  • The Bourne Ultimatum

    The Bourne Ultimatum

Ultimatum takes the spare plot in The Bourne Supremacy to another level. I mean that as a compliment too! A key factor in both sequels' success is that they don't overstay their welcome. Both are under two hours, and it's a relief to lose the extra baggage. You want more when the credits roll, and that's so rare to see.
