Letterboxd — Your life in film

I’ve always felt weird whenever I see a dead person’s face on merch everywhere. Don’t support art/IP licensing companies unless the artist runs it themselves.

Really liked the concept, but the film didn’t do much with it. Wish there was more expansion on the Haiti and France plot lines respectively. Also, the white French classmate shouldn’t have been so central. I found myself constantly wondering why there was so much focus on her throughout the runtime. The scenes in 1960s and modern day Haiti were the strongest.

The plot is kinda thin, but the music is great (Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, and Cheap Trick). Cool visuals at the end too.
