The Headless Woman

The Headless Woman ★★★

Conflicted about this movie. On the hand, it’s beautifully shot with the use of wide shots to create “negative space” around the protagonist, and it illustrates class and ethnic divisions in Argentinian society very clearly. The feeling of encroaching paranoia is very real here. On the other, there wasn’t enough story, whether communicated through dialogue or visuals, to keep my attention in some scenes. This movie is attempting to do something really interesting but needs more meat on its bones to effectively do it.
