Most of the praise I have seen for Kids centres on its rawness, its brutality, and its unflinching take on its subject matter. All of these things are undeniably true, but the execution is the cinematic equivalent of when you were in school and one of your friends would run up and pretend to hit your face and then laugh because they made you flinch. Of course you made me flinch, you were going to hit my face.
