Side Effects 2013
Definitely the better side of the coin that both this and Unsane have a face on. The trio completely kill their roles, Mara in particular. As clumsy as practically all of Soderbergh’s movies are, I just love how lean and unpredictable they remain. He never gives characters an ounce of mercy. Absolute sucker for those opening and closing shots.

Incredibly fun and lively without the usual level of Godard pretensions that tend to keep me at arms length (yes, even if he has a character express his love for Breathless). Clearly beyond inspiring; there’s no PTA, or Chazelle, or many others without this, and it’s just brilliant to behold.
