Definitely the better side of the coin that both this and Unsane have a face on. The trio completely kill their roles, Mara in particular. As clumsy as practically all of Soderbergh’s movies are, I just love how lean and unpredictable they remain. He never gives characters an ounce of mercy. Absolute sucker for those opening and closing shots.

Incredibly fun and lively without the usual level of Godard pretensions that tend to keep me at arms length (yes, even if he has a character express his love for Breathless). Clearly beyond inspiring; there’s no PTA, or Chazelle, or many others without this, and it’s just brilliant to behold. Laughed manically at least twice and almost shed tears of joy with that bird’s eye long take. Just stacked on all fronts. And you have Rina Sawayama kicking ass? Hell yeah.
Builds up to this fascinating manifesto on the lengths we go to for content and spectacle, regardless of the price (monetary and human). The look at the lack of appreciation those behind the scenes get (and the consequences of poor filming conditions) creates some of the most horrifying set pieces in ages.
