The Godfather: Part II ★★★★½

I never thought about it before, but Fredo is basically Lennie from Of Mice of Men. Michael knows he’s going to kill Fredo at the end of Godfather 2,  so he gives him a fake make up hug before having him capped while fishing. The only thing better to go out with than fake mafia betrayal make up hug is fake planning a farm you’re never going to have. Fredo and Lennie both go out with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.

On the other hand, heavy is the head with a fully functioning brain. Michael and George soldier forth, with blood on their hands and a hole in their hearts. Lennie’s death is more mercy than mercenary, but the end result is the same: Diane Keaton is not walking through that barn door!
