Daniel Ajani’s review published on Letterboxd:
Wanted to finish the entire trilogy before I check out the new one tomorrow. With that being said, I barely payed attention to the movie since I was playing Minecraft (and writing what you’re reading right now) instead.
As for what I did pay attention to, I mean it could’ve been worse. It looks great, the score is cool, and has a few interesting ideas here and there, but this was just mostly boring (which, obviously, is the reason why I wasn’t paying much attention, even though you probably already assumed that and I’m just wasting your time with this sentence.)
The big robots that the Zion people used legit reminded me of the finale of The Lego Movie, (If you’ve seen both movies, you know what I’m talking about) so that was interesting.
Let’s see… There was a really dumb plot point around the middle but it’s kinda spoilery. Also the final fight is so over the top with Neo and Smith flying in the air and fighting like they were in Dragon Ball or something. The fight is full of so many odd moments and choices, but I don’t want to spoil them in case if you want to see it yourself. Yeah, idk it wasn’t very good, but at least I immediately rewatched the opening scene of the first Matrix to wake myself up from that state of boredom so that’s great, I think.
