Ghost World 2001
Blind bought the Criterion Blu-ray during the last 50% off sale. Such a wonderfully misanthropic film. I love the color and costume design for these adorably miserable characters. So much chemistry between the cast and loaded with great cameos of “that guy”s like Pat Healy, David Cross, Patrick Fischler, etc. Thora Birch is so awesome as Enid and it’s a shame she didn’t get a whole ton of work into the later 00s and beyond. Balls to the wall just the way I like it. Nice opening with that terrific title card. There is absolutely nothing quite like watching films set in Los Angeles, about the Hollywood movie-making factory. I find the golden age of tinsel town endlessly fascinating and this could become one of my go to comfort films when I need to go back into the world of L.A. and what it does to people who go there to chase their dreams.
