SUMMER WATCHLIST KNOCKOUT #11
This is the third and final Ghibli film that I marathoned for my birthday this year.
I really liked this one! Idk what it was, but it almost instantly clicked for me with a very comfy aesthetic and a super charming premise. If I had to compare to other Ghibli films I’d say this is very reminiscent of both Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, which are not only my favorite Ghibli movies but also some of my favorite movies of all time, so it tracks why I love this. Don’t get me wrong, it totally stands on it’s own though. It’s rich with character full of life, I just wish I had seen it sooner so I could view it with more childlike wonder.
