Wow. My first one star review.
HERE IS THE THING: I really thought I would like this movie. It had some pieces of what I really love, like time travel... and well, I guess that’s IT!!!!!!
The dialogue was so bad. SO BAD. Even though they tried explaining what was happening through conversation, it was stupid, laughable, PREDICTABLE, and not helpful. U S E L E S S.
I don’t even know who the red and blue team were freaking shooting at near the end. I guess it was the bad guy’s team???!.............. each other? Was it all just so buildings could blow up?!!
Elizabeth Debicki was a literal one-dimensional damsel in distress. She was a mom who’s good at her job and that’s ALL THEY LET HER BE (other than passed out for half the dang film!!!!) And I simply, at no point, bought into whatever romance angle they tried to force between her and John David Washington.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO HOW THEY NEVER NAME JDW’S CHARACTER, WHO ALSO CALLS HIMSELF “THE PROTAGONIST” MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE MOVIE WHICH IS ANNOYING AND SILLY.
I *CORRECTLY PREDICTED* what Robert Pattinson told John David Washington at the end and that is stupid. Stupid because it’s predictable and stupid because it was also forced and stupid because I do not care.
Places I laughed:
- when they were fighting themselves at the airport and one of them crawled all over the floor. lol.
- when she shot her husband on the boat and he stuck his tongue out and was like, “blah, ugh”. lmao!
- lots of other parts because the dialogue was bad!!!!!!!!!! “If I can’t have her, no one can.” Gimme a break!!! Hahahahhahahahahhahahahahahah
The time travel and science in this movie are so poor. It’s so bad.
The “jokes” were not funny. At one point, I turned to my friends and said, “Were we supposed to laugh at that.”
I feel like this movie’s CONCEPT had it all and they had everything at their fingertips for this to have been good and interesting.... and they BLEW IT!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was when they went into the inverted past. I was actually excited to see that. And also a few of us rented a truck and drove 2 hours to San Diego to see it. I stuck my lil toes in the sand and ate a torta 😊 (but it didn’t have tomatoes on it??.................)
