The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ★★★★

You know, with all the crap that these films get, I can't help but wonder why? Sure, it's not The Lord of the Rings. But it wasn't supposed to be! Is it too silly? Bro, did you even read the book? They nail the tone perfectly! Does it deviate from the book? Of course it does! Jackson himself stated he wanted to add as much "middle-earth" into it as possible, and he does! Remember folks, there's a lot that goes on beyond The Hobbit and LotR. Honestly, The Hobbit trilogy might be the most misunderstood piece of entertainment in recent memory.

Ok, now that I've got that out of my system, I'll go on with my brief review. First off, The Battle of the Five Armies is by no means a flawless film. It drags at times, the dialogue is sometimes cheesy, and the elf/dwarf love thingy isn't handled all that well until the end. Luckily, the film's issues are cancelled out by the pure glorious spectacle of it all. It's hard to believe that it's all over now, but I'm just glad it went out in such a spectacular fashion.
