    The Fabelmans

Cliche. Characters straight out of Central Casting. 40 minutes too long. Movie of the week vibes. I didn’t hate it, it was a passable kind of movie and certainly had its charming moments. The kind of thing you watch when you are sick or on a rainy day. David Lynch cameo was fun.

    Infinity Pool

Goth and Skarsgard are very talented, and give great performances, but the film itself doesn’t really go anywhere and tries too hard. Limited payoff. Questionable character motives. It feels like Cronenberg had a bunch of “cool shots” in mind and tried to build a story around them rather than the other way around.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Not really spoilers ahead, but just in case….

Despite the baddies in this film having the absolute height of technology in every way, they use cloth handcuffs and the windshields of their vehicles are easily penetrated by a homemade spear.

My daughter made me watch this. To be fair, we laughed our asses off throughout it, and that was enjoyable, which is why it got 1.5 stars.

    The Deep Blue Sea

Im generally a fan of movies about repressed Brits but found this cloying and overwrought. The music didn’t help. Some really nice moments, beautifully shot, acting was excellent, and yet…meh.

  • Land

I grew up near where this was shot, so I enjoyed seeing some of the scenery. Otherwise, this is totally meh.

What fool does not keep an automobile when living in the back woods. That was a really dumb decision, Robin.

Interesting that the hair belonging to a woman Robin’s age grows longer in the wilderness, but does not turn grey. Die job magically stays in place.
