Second viewing was everything for me. I just felt so many plot threads and themes connect. Like my first viewing was all just trying to soak in the feelings, and while the first viewing was resonant, this one was next level. Incredible.

Biggest surprise of the year?? I just heard of this movie a few days ago. Seemed like a fun time but holy shit I didn’t know it would go this hard?? Beautiful, strange, thrilling, loved this.
There is a deep political subtext in this movie as it pertains to the Paul character (played by the wonderful Delroy Lindo), the Vietnamese perspective of the war, the Norman character (played by a great Chadwick Boseman), and the archival footage dispersed throughout this film. What I want to talk about is the frequent use of Marvin Gaye's songs from his album What's Going On.
