Gary Pine’s review published on Letterboxd:
Judas and the Black Messiah is a 2021 biographical drama film directed & co-written(with Will Berson) by Shaka King starring Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Lil Rel Howery, Algee Smith, and Martin Sheen.
The film is about the betrayal of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in late-1960s Chicago, at the hands of William O'Neal, an FBI informant.
Major kudos to all involved. Master storytelling and solid acting throughout, especially Kaluuya, Fishback, & Steinfeld. Very powerful film about racial injustice.
