Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ★★★★★

“Turn to page 394.”

I didn’t think this movie could get any more perfect, but here we are. I’ve always considered this in my top 3 (still changes within each series rewatch), but my god I had more fun with this movie than ever.

I love the tonal shift from family movies to the much darker themes, but it also arguably contains the best comedy of the series, being the opening with Aunt Marge and the Knight Bus. Also how perfect was it to cast Miss Trunchbull as the bitchy aunt?!

As flawless as this movie is, it goes to a whole new level of perfect once the scene with Buckbeaks execution begins. I can even pinpoint the EXACT moment I fell in love with Emma Watson and Hermione and that’s when she punches Malfoy right in the face.

Then we get to the scene with the shrieking shack and I do not remember that being so intense. The whole Pettigrew reveal is so well done and both Thewlis and Oldman are at the top of their game.

Then it gets even MORE PERFECT once the time turner is introduced and those scenes with Harry and Hermione are just so fucking great. Literally any time it’s just the two of them, make for some of the best scenes.

From that scene on, they should’ve ended up together in the end and I’ll forever stand by that.

But oh well, this movie is still absolute perfection and just makes me so happy when I watch it.
