Directorial debut Pig stars an unbothered truffle hunter on a quest for revenge after his foraging pig is kidnapped. It's a rather thin story that focuses on the little things in life that matter the most. The low, tempered aesthetic and rustic complexity lend a lot of atmosphere to the mise-en-scène. Gritty but heartfelt - this is a wholesome bundle of melancholia that I think most people should go out and see. Soulfood.
I like that Nic Cage takes the time, every once in a while, to remind us what a gifted actor he is. It's easy to forget. Go get that second Oscar, big man!
