    Thank you Joe Begos.

This was the Christmas slasher meets Terminator thrill ride I didn’t even know I needed.

I absolutely adore Begos’ 16mm red filter signature style with a throbbing 80s esque score from Steve Moore.   This one adds one of my fav new lead bad ass “cool” chick performances ever by Riley Dandy.  She better become fucking HUGE cuz she deserved it.  I see she’s in a bunch of Christmas/romantic movies thst I can’t bear…

A terrific, blood soaked, cosmic horror two hander from Rebekah McKendry.

The disembodied voice of J.K. Simmons perfectly animates the old god Ghat and Ryan Kwanten is back doing a squirrelly, unhinged protagonist as the two duel and debate over the fate of the universe in a road stop bathroom.

Streaming on Shudder and well worth your time.

Looking forward to McKendry’s next effort - hopefully with an even bigger budget just so long as she keeps hosting Colors Of The Dark.

Clever insightful script and terrific performances.   Surprisingly funny and with much in its mind.

Meet The Parents redone as a true crime podcast mystery and didn’t really do it Justice.

All hail the unhinged goddess that is Mia Goth.

The movie soars every time she’s on screen, but feel somewhat half baked.  While the classicism, nihilism and skewering of the 1% are rich troughs to drink from, they felt oddly underdeveloped and too much in service to the central conceit of the film - watching oneself be brutally killed.

Still Cronenberg jr. is developing an intoxicating visual style and fills this one with odd angles, claustrophobic framing and Lynchian hallucinatory imagery.

I’ll definitely give this a rewatch if only for Mia Goth.

Haven't watched this in over a year and a half and as I had cued up Cozzi's Black Cat and had time for two I decided to start with one of my favorites and one of Argento's very best. I have the Synapse 4K UHD and WOW. the picture quality was astounding. Super bright colors and perfect grain. Just so good.

I was struck by how otherworldly this one is from the very beginning. Argento pulls from his Bava playbook…

Man I’ve been looking forward to this one.  With the exceptions of Synchronic and Tenet, this was probably my most anticipated movie that was left on the 2020 schedule.  Of course since there are no theaters or drive-ins near me, I had to wait until its VOD debut this week.

I’ve only seen part of Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral and I dug it and have it in my watchlist to revisit,…
