Roth’s nihilist critique of the modern capitalist structure plunges the spectator into a world much darker than its predecessor. With Hostel: Part 2, Roth knows exactly what he is doing, both narratively and stylistically - revealing an introspective, dysphoric element to his body of work. Memories, dreams, fading.

    Haunted, scattered bodies,
    Tortured, empty vessels.

Aside from some truly hack direction, Babylon is surprisingly decent in moments. I don’t understand the incessant need for the unpleasantries all for hedonistic shock value, the Maguire sequence should 100% have been deleted off the editing timeline.
