For the movie-goer who craves catharsis, this may not be the film for you. Much like the real-life case it’s based on, Zodiac is dense, tricky, and commands all your attention. We finish the film having perhaps more questions than when we started, and there’s no big finale or bow-tied conclusion. It was a bold film to make in this regard. One of Fincher’s biggest obstacles was making Zodiac compelling and interesting even when we know the story and how it plays out, but damn did he ever. A fascinating and remarkably detailed look into one of the most infamous serial killers of all time.
