Warner Bros. clearly gave Gunn all the creative freedom in the world for this one because it’s an insanely chaotic and absurd ride from start to finish.

It’s excessively graphic, (something I don’t like but there’s no point in beating that dead horse), but so much fun nonetheless. There’s a constant energy on screen that gives whatever tone it’s presently embodying momentum. Because while this is clearly an action comedy, it makes a consistent ,and mostly welcomed, effort to incorporate…

    When Marnie Was There

    ★★★★½

    Talk about an under-appreciated gem!

When Marnie Was There is one of the most touching films I’ve seen in a while. It wields atmosphere and narrative themes with an aged mastery. I can’t emphasize enough just how well this film creates a chilling blend of isolation, connection, love, and sadness. It’s so many different things, yet all these polar opposite emotions engage in a dance with one another, ending in a tear jerking experience. Because I did find myself close…

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One

I’ve watched a lot of these DC animated films at this point and they can be very hit or miss, many landing in the enjoyable but forgettable territory. Long Halloween Part 1 was actually a pleasant surprise because it manages to convey its story in a way where the plot is appealing and memorable. Something many of the others lack.

Just to get them out of the way, here’s the few things I didn’t like.

    The animation. Ok, I didn’t…

I’m glad I went into this only knowing of the iconic shower scene because it allowed me to enjoy its twists and turns with no expectations. The film can be dated at times. The murder sequences in particular are incredibly stiff to the point where I had to question how people felt about it even back in the day when filmmaking was much more simple. Otherwise, Psycho is an engaging movie with a plot that masters the art of misdirection. It’s so much fun.

Well mark me down as disappointed. As an avid lover of animation, I was excited for this after hearing the near universally positive responses. A quirky and chaotic animated film with a heart of gold? Yes please!

The Mitchell’s Vs. The Machines failed to impressive on all fronts. The comedy is unbearably dated and in your face. While there are some moments that I laughed out loud, most made me feel like I was watching some out…

    Get Out

It was when she was drinking a glass of milk and eating bowl of dried cereal, that I was really convinced of the psychopath status.

I’m late to the party but Get Out is, as everyone has already said, great. Peele has a strong hold of the tone he wants and how he wants it to unravel. The events progressively get weirder and weirder until the final unleashes everything. It all just works so well. There’s no point in making a full review just because (and I know this is overused), everything than can been said, has been.
