    Never really justifies why a remake to a perfect movie should exist but it’s pretty fun until the ending. 

    The original movie is so tied to the bankrupt NY of the era but the closest this one comes to drawing from the subsequent 35 years of city history is having James Gandolfini play a Giuliani-inspired mayor.

    Lots of chuckles and uncomfortable pauses.

    But I didn’t find really anything in the plot with the son to be very satisfying (or funny). The introduction that he works at a weed shop delivers the exact beats you’d expect.

    Jeannie Berlin as usual steals the show
