The seventh, and penultimate, episode of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities is very clearly and distinctly directed by Panos Cosmatos, and it is absolutely drenched in his singular aesthetic. The wonderful set design, the beautiful use of color, the ultra-cool synth score, and the delightfully odd cast of characters played by a pretty damn cool group of actors all come together to make this an excellent episode! Speaking of the cast, why is Peter Weller playing David Carradine in this? Whether that's what he was going for or not, he is fantastic here. Eric André and Charlyne Yi are both also really good here. I loved the mood and aesthetic of this episode! I wish it could have kept going. I would have happily watched this story continue for another hour, and maybe we could have gotten an even more balls-to-the-wall climactic crescendo of cocaine-fuelled, head-exploding monster action!
