Will Menaker’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Assassination of Fred Hampton by the Coward William O'Neal
Not a whole lot to say about this one. Pretty good. Historically credible. Drags in second act and love story between Hampton and the mother of his child felt a little tacked on. Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya are both great. Jesse Plemons also on point as an FBI psycho. Martin Sheen, however, a big stink bomb as J. Edgar. Lots of bad prosthetic work. We all know about his proclivities, but what was with all that eye shadow? Bob Hoskins in Oliver Stone's Nixon, still the best on screen portrayal of Hoover.
