A Question of Silence

A Question of Silence ★★★★½

Marlene Gorris' film is a provocative investigation into a violent and mysterious rebuttal against the patriarchy, sheding a fresh critical light on female hysteria. This is heady and unabashed feminist filmmaking. The story structure jumps out and immediately engages. There's a lot of poignant questions asked with some logical answers of sort and a bit of comedic despair to round it all out.

Appreciated the intersection of nihilism and solidarity this film finds. The music and editing are effective throughout. Few films are as effective at juxtaposing individual and social madness as this one. This is a memorable film.
