I have been insanely hyped for this movie since I saw a trailer for it back in September, and this delivered on everything I wanted from it with bonuses. From the first few minutes all the way to the credits rolling at the end, we are thrust into a world of war, led by absolutely astounding performances from Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya. This is not to pay disservice to the rest of the ensemble, which all do incredibly, but the real star of the show here is director/writer Shaka King. He makes this story so incredibly relevant, and blends together genres so deftly that it shocked me to discover how early in his film career he actually is. A pulse-pounding, timely, vibrant, and important masterpiece that deserves every award thrown at it and more.
