To be frank, I find the rave reviews this has garnered to be utterly confounding. So - this physically elderly couple (played by two actors under layers of desperately fake-looking makeup) manage to pick off a bunch of evidently able-bodied young porn stars. One of them has a heart condition yet still manages to blow someone away with a noisy shotgun and chop another's fingers off with repeated axe swings!
How is this even remotely convincing to anyone?
Sure, there are some good gore effects and the acting is mostly decent but the rest of it is kind of blah - slow-paced, murkily shot and really rather silly.
I have noticed that a prequel called Pearl has been released more recently. I might check it out but I can't say I'm holding out much hope.
