Still some of the best acting, directing, editing, cinematography, production design and writing ever out to screen. Still marvel at every single second of this film. Still feel emotionally drained by the ending. Still holds a very special place in my heart - now made even more special due to the very special person I watched it with :)
Finally crossed this (terrific) documentary off my watchlist, more than a year after I watched Welles’ swan song (and arguably his magnum opus). What an incredible insight into the madness of the creative process of the ultimate transgressive cinematic maverick. I’m sure there’s liberties taken here, but the footage shown with the commentary provided make for a strangely potent exploration of filmmaking in relation to a much more personal narrative of loneliness and betrayal.
