Letterboxd — Your life in film

i didn’t expect much. the movie is just lazy and unnecessary. it completely lacks any of the elements that made the original good. i just couldn’t get into it! it’s so boring!
the only saving grace is when that guy from game of thrones said “is it still among us?” 
lastly, the practical effects from the original > the half assed cgi in this one.

this movie is just one big among us reference.

what a weird movie. i’ve always liked the idea of elimination games, but it just feels like super wealthy people shitting on the poor with no payoff. terrible ending

godzilla in this movie is badass. he genuinely felt terrifying and the whole laser back thing was so op lol. i also loved how they chose purple to be the color of his energy, which is visually pleasing. my only complaint is how focused it was on humans. there were times where i just wanted the action to come back bc they just wouldn’t stop talking! i’m watching a movie about a kaiju so i think it’s fair to expect mainly action lol however, a focus on humans is expected considering it’s shin’s first installment so seeing how humans react is only right.

more starfire, less beast boy.

aaron practically met his match. sara was a lot better than the protagonist from the first one. honestly i found this film to be better than the first, but the last ten minutes were just meh. i feel like the writers wanted aaron and sara to die, but maybe in production they decided to keep them alive somehow. what a weird ending.

does a really good job at capturing joseph's mental state. he was definitely terrifying. aaron on the other hand is a complete idiot.

brick and baxter carried!

don't get how this movie is hated. i go into these films expecting giant ass monsters beating the shit out of each other and that's exactly what i got. the sound design, cinematography, choreography and score make me want to rewatch over and over again. such a fun ride all throughout. the human plots make sense and don't overstay their welcome.
ghidorah is my goat!!

the plot was a little all over the place, but i found the movie to be enjoyable and fun. one of my biggest complaints would be that we spent more time with the locusts and humans than we did with dinosaurs. that said, it seems they tried to diversify and use different species of dinosaurs which was cool. also, the scene when they were running from the raptors was crazy and had me anxious lol
lastly, beta is the cutest thing ever.
