More Walter Hill catch-up. This is a weird one, it really doesn’t feel like a Hill film stylistically - too much hip-hop, too many fast cuts, too many fades and dissolves in the editing. It’s a solid story with a great cast, a prison boxing movie in the tradition of Penitentiary but without the grotesqueries. Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes square off, with a hell of a supporting cast, all leading up to the big fight. Series is better known for its later Scott Adkins entries though.
Walter Hill films ranked here.
