A bit too Old Hollywood for me in its creaky plot contrivances and romances (Fabio of Portugal, I’m looking at you), but badass general Viola Davis is a pretty fun Viola Davis - maybe not Ma Rainey/Amanda Waller fun, but fun. And if you like a big budget historical war epic with lots of violent action in the Glory/Gladiator/Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves/Braveheart/The Patriot mold, you’ll enjoy this - it’s certainly much more lively than Old Guard.
Lashana Lynch is pretty damn fun too (love her), but apparently Angelique Kidjo was in this? I don’t think I even saw her.
