Ethan Colburn’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's been a while since I've seen a Marvel movie.
It took me a minute to just adjust to the Marvel style, but as I did, I quite enjoyed some of the action, and humor throughout. Awkwafina is proving herself to be an incredible actress, and I'm so happy to witness her rising star.
The CGI was distractingly bad at times, especially on the bus. I couldn’t get over how fake everything looked, and especially with this budget, I’d expect better.
While I agree that the stunt coordination is exceptional, it’s slightly ruined when it’s so interlaced with CGI fighting. They had the cast and the training to do a lot of these fights (especially the bus one) practically and I think it would have landed better. They’re whacking each other all over the place, and not one person is actually injured. Sophie says this is just every Marvel movie though so I don’t know.
The end redeemed it for me, I had a great time with the final battle.
