John’s review published on Letterboxd:
A film that brilliantly captures childhood, where the wild things are does a great job of expanding the original short book into a narrative , feature length film. A celebration of the imagination and its ups and downs. Full of metaphors and deep themes witha brilliant lead child performance, excellent location, solid direction and script from spike jonze. The wild things are unique and strange looking. Scary but sweet looking at times, it helps that they are given character by the top voice actors including james gandolfini. A uplifting,at times sad film. The songs by Karen oh are delightful.
