Charlie Kupershmidt’s review published on Letterboxd:
The movie faded to black at the end, and the audience I saw it with began applauding rapturously, only to find the screen lighting up again with one final shot, sending them all quiet. That final shot completely changes everything about the ending that they'd been applauding, and the added effect of the applause being shut down so definitively by that fade in made it even more soul-crushing and poetic. But even on its own, that single shot is the best ending to a movie this year, hands down.
It's also the best ending to a screening I've ever had because then I got to shake Bong Joon-ho's hand and try not to burst into tears thanking him for complimenting screenwriters in an earlier Q+A.
